Cory Sexton pastors Hoschton Baptist Church in Hoschton, Georgia, where he’s served in leadership since 2012. He oversaw a decade of significant growth for the church, including the purchase of a 30-acre property and multiple building projects.
Cory attributes the success and impetus behind Your Church Needs You to the selfless, sacrificial commitment of the many lay members who call Hoschton their home church. In 2023 he created a Scriptural and ethical framework for church engagement called Heroic Church Membership, which he turned into a sermon series. An eponymous book version soon followed.
Cory regularly speaks to like-minded audiences, challenging them to rise up and answer the needs of their local churches. He’s been married to his wife, Karla, for 33 years, and together they have two children — Kayla, 30, and Carter, 25. In his spare time, Cory enjoys hunting, football and spending time with his family.
Your Church Needs You calls on believers everywhere to return to the rewarding power and impact of dedicated Christian service.
Through personal stories and a detailed review of Scripture, Cory Sexton shares how committed work in the local church changed his life, as well as the lives of his family and the people he leads today as senior pastor of Hoschton Baptist Church in Georgia.
Restoration, Sexton argues, is fully within our reach. Adapted from a sermon series, Your Church Needs You helps readers rediscover eternal truths — how deeply the average believer desires to serve others for God’s glory, and the built-in abundance of talent and gifts the church already possesses to succeed in its mission.
Your Church Needs You will challenge you to embrace a higher level of commitment and service, and inspire you to become a heroic member of a local church that plays an indispensable role in the Kingdom of God.
